Most of them are male and we’ve had many things in common, like our interests but I think the issues I’ve seen with the relationship have been more on my side than theirs – I don’t think it’d ever work. They have a lot of attributes I can deal with in a friend but I just don’t find alluring. A large chunk of my friendship are with ISFPs. A stand out issue I have with them is that none of them dealt with criticism well. They have a tendency to complain about a lot of things, since they’re idealistic and want things and people to improve but don’t see that a lot of their views are unrealistic.

If you criticise their ideals, they take it incredibly personally – they want validation or nothing at all. I don’t like walking on egg-shells in any of my relationships and I think that is a strong precursor to a ill-fitting match. Whereas with my TP friends, whether they agree or not, I feel they take the criticism of their ideals as a lot better and they don’t take it personally.

I think I had a lot more problems with them than they do with me- at least, they have never communicated any problems they had with me when I’ve asked. They’re usually late, not good at organising themselves and it does feel at times like I’m hanging out with someone much younger – which isn’t attractive in a potential lover. It’s somehow harder, in a friendship, feeling like you’re the only one who sees it isn’t working well and they want to it go somewhere ‘new’.

One good thing about our relationship was that, other than in the areas I felt they couldn’t take criticism, I could be myself since we shared many common interests which I haven’t with most other types I’ve met. As well as this, despite not taking critique well, they never ran away from me mentioning the issues I had with them.
