My Return to TBEX

Okay, maybe not conquer – but at least see a healthy mix of sights to make it feel like you were actually THERE, not just passing through? While there are plenty of ways to enjoy a single day in Dublin, here is how we spent our 24 hours there! It’s in no way an exhaustive list but it will at least give you a general guideline if you only have a short period of time to spend in Dublin. Our Day in Dublin 1.

5 Things I Learned At My First TBEX Conference. May 14, September 22, Gloria Atanmo 3 Comments. Estimated Reading Time: 15 minutes It’s cute really, the synchronization of it all. Your heart beat is going autobahn speed, and your once logical-thinking mind just stops functioning.

Some are unlucky at finding a pair, even a simple date. There are various dating and social networks online specialized in this regard, with applications like Speed Dating Software offering an example of how such algorithms of match-making work. Based on a random algorithm After a short and uneventful setup process you’re free to run the application and check your luck at finding a date. The main window is pretty simple, split into two columns dedicated to both genders, with a few requirement fields for personal details and contact info.

There’s also a sample file you can load to quickly get the hang of it. Note that the application does not depend or require any online services to perform matching. Sadly, it’s all done according to a random algorithm, so there’s a high chance there’s no girl or guy out there for you, regardless of your qualities. Poor set of features In order for everything to work, you need to have at least one entry in each panel.

Thoughts on TBEX in Toronto, Canada

To find out what happens, when people stop being polite, and start getting real. I regret when we missed out on TBEX Colorado — judging from the pictures, it looked like a lot of fun. I knew it would be a hell of a weekend when you put any bloggers together in a house let alone 11 of them. I thought it would be easy to recognize faces almost immediately at the kick-off party.

My favorite part — cheese cubes rolled in maple syrup, gummy bear carving station, local beer, flipbook photobooth and mac and cheese from CheeseWerks. Honestly, the amount of free food and booze was a huge plus!

Although most concrete halls, some more attractive parts of the conference halls! I do not like walking. The idea of walking long distances appalls me. I like to say it is because I have very puny long stick like legs. In reality I do not like walking because I am lazy. People had warned me that ITB was the largest travel exhibition in the world, but not really given me a perspective on how absolutely huge and spread out it is.

It spans many halls and has a huge geographic footprint. It is an expedition in its own right. It is unrelenting and full on. It is also the best way to see everything that exists in travel in the world, even though by the end of each day you feel that you have actually walked the world to see them. There is a buzz and feeling of discovery all around you.

The noise and chatter all around is excited, with an atmosphere like it is the last day of term at school or the run up to Christmas.

When you travel by yourself there are even more lessons that you learn and sometimes you wonder if you are doing the right thing or if you are walking the right line. I will not be going to Blogher this summer and likely not going to Blissdom this fall. I wanted to add something to my life that would expose me to new bloggers, new experiences and new adventures. I wanted to make sure that you I met new people to enrich my life. The conference has just wrapped up but the hits just keep on coming with the events that are part of the post-conference.

Tomorrow is a trip in the Catalunya region and then one more night here.

They have specific blogger accreditation and many talks, events and functions (like Speed Dating in partnership with TBEX to connect bloggers with brands wanting to work with them). It .

In the travel and hospitality vertical, it is perhaps even more so as many organizations have seasonal operations, and many tend to be busy during the summer period between May and September in particular. I have attended a few events organized by Eye for Travel in the past, and their events always feature hands-on, tangible case studies and speakers. This year marks the first time the event will be held in the Big Apple, after many years in Las Vegas. There is also an equivalent event, held specifically or European travel practitioners and the next one is coming up in London, on May , Every year, there is a North America edition as well as a European version, with lots of pre- and post-activities around the chosen destination this year, Cancun and Athens.

I attended last year in Toronto where over 1, travel bloggers and various media were in attendance, and aside from the obvious networking opportunities and great functions, there were a few really good panels and speakers, from both the travel blogger and travel destination perspectives.

Living the Dream uses demographic data, email opt-ins, display advertising, and affiliate links to operate this site. On one hand you have the potential to learn a lot, make industry connections, meet other professional travel bloggers , and hang out with friends you probably haven’t seen since the last conference. On the other hand you have absolutely zero clue if you will take home anything valuable for the hundreds, if not thousands of dollars you will spend to attend them.

A consistent theme in many of the sessions in recent years has been how to improve your travel blog , how to find a community , and how to monetize your blog — so if you know nothing of these you will learn a thing or two and should consider going.

I just got back from Toronto where I attendedTBEX , Travel Bloggers Exchange. Founded by Kim Mance of Go Galavanting, it’s the largest travel blogging conference of its kind. Mance was the commander at the TBEX conference I last attended in , and I could tell it was all very over-whelming for her to organize back then.

You see, this is the future. We have phones the size of our palms and laptops the size of our phones. Where travel bloggers, writers, and travel brands alike come together to share our love of wine all things travel. So my journey as a travel blogger started like many others I met that weekend. Before booking my one-way ticket to Europe back in December , I knew that I would have some adventures to share with family and friends, and so to me, starting my blog as a humble little corner for people to pretend they cared about my life check in every once in a while, seemed like a good idea.

Except I started lacking motivation to write. But man, is struggle a beautiful thing in hindsight. Fast-forward almost a year later and I never dreamed that these same adventures would be shared and read across countries around the world and having the likes of Matador Network and Elite Daily asking to republish posts on their platform of millions.

It has truly been a magical journey. That being said, the only thing I was missing from this journey was a network of other travel bloggers who shared this passion, and little did I know, there were conferences held annually to celebrate our crazy lives, not to mention on private beaches in exotic locations.
